It’s a well known fact that a good sound sleep is the most essential thing for healthy living. But these days due to pressure and stress many people have trouble in getting sleep or staying asleep. They can try and follow some of the below;
- Don’t toss and turn for longer than half an hour:get up and do something calming such as reading.
- Develop a relaxing presleep ritual:have a glass of warm milk or herbal tea;read or take a warm bath.
- Get treatment for any medical problems that may contribute to sleep troubles such as sleep apnoea and restless leg syndrome.
Some people use sleeping pills that are significantly safer than they used to be. But even the drug companies will tell that they are not for the use in chronic insomnia because they wont make you a better sleeper. It helps you fall asleep on the nights you take them,but you can develop a tolerance to them. They are safe for short-term use since they are less addictive in the past. The appropriate use of sleeping pills is for situational insomnia i.e a person who normally sleeps well develops insomnia because of an acute stress. But insomnia which lasts for more than a few weeks may signal the presence of a more serious problem. The effective way to it is to practice yoga daily.
