ANIMALS-WHICH IS WHICH?

ASSES,DONKEYS AND MULES

The ass and the donkey are both members of the horse family. An ass lives in the wild;a donkey is a domesticated ass that has been selectively bred by people. A mule is a completely different animal because it is a cross between a horse and a donkey.

RABBITS AND HARES

Hares are larger than rabbits . Their hind feet and ears, in particular are longer than those of rabbits. A hare is born with fur and with its eyes open while a rabbit when born does not have hair and its eyes are temporarily closed .

RATS AND MICE

Rats are many times larger than mice and have hairless tails;mice have hairy tails. A common mouse is 3 ½ to 4 inches long with a 2 to 3 inch tail. Rats have, on average, a 7 to 10 inch body with a 5 to 8 inch tail.

SHEEP AND GOATS

A sheep’s tail hangs down; goat’s tail stands up. A male goat (a billy)usually has a beard;a male sheep (a ram) does not. Sheeps mind their own business and are conformists;goats are unpredictable and move away from whats going on around them.

TURTLES,TORTOISES AND TERRAPINS

In a general sense all of these reptiles can be called as turtles. Turtles that live on land all the time are called tortoises;fresh water turtles that are edible are called terrapins. All other fresh water and salt water species are called turtles.
