PARENTAL PRESSURE

The international report on ‘Parental Pressure’ says that its more in Asia specially in India. Its very sad to note that the students who score between 90 and 100 marks face this pressure much. Even though they get distinction you cannot see them happy. They are afraid that their parents will scold them for not getting 100%. Parental pressure is more among educated parents. They not only do that in academics but also in extra curricular activities. Students are overscheduled leading them to stress. There are more resources available now than before but that doesn’t mean we should use all of them. If parents stop this they can avoid many behavioural problems among students. They should realize this as the famous Persian poet Kahlil Gibran says ‘Your children are not your children, they are the sons and daughters of life’s longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, and though they are with you, yet they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your thought, for they have their own thoughts’.
